OVERVIEW:
- COCs: PAHs & dioxins in soil; PAHs in sediment; VOCs & SVOCs in groundwater.
- Excavated 48,000 CY of contaminated soil from the ACW Site.
- Excavated 40,000 CY of sediment from Railroad Lake and Hughes Creek (including about 4,000 linear ft of Hughes Creek downstream of the ACW Site).
- Closed Railroad Lake with no downstream loss of contaminants.
- Consolidated the excavated soil and sediment into an onsite disposal area, consistent with RCRA Subtitle D landfill design requirements.
- Constructed a subsurface barrier wall around the soil/sediment disposal area (perimeter length 4,500 ft, average depth 40 ft).
- Treated approximately 52,000 CY of excavated soil/sediment to form a 2-foot thick subsurface cap over 16 acres of the disposal area.
- Capped the entire disposal area with a low permeability cap.
- Implemented a long-term monitoring program.
- Prepared and received USACE, USEPA, MSDEQ approval of APP, QC Plan, UFP-QAPP Work Plan, Design, and Reports
